An invitation into my creative clubhouse

Howdy Reader!

Quick heads-up: there's no Creator News Live today. I'm at Momentum this week.

But on the drive here, I had an idea I can't stop thinking about, and I really want to know what you think.

One of my favorite parts of what I do is helping someone make something they didn't think they could make.

A show. A video. A system that makes their business easier to run. That moment when "I could never do that" turns into "Wait, I made this?"

I want to create more of those moments. And I want to build a place where we can do it together.

At Ecamm Creator Camp, I asked the room what they'd do with more time if AI gave some back. The answers: piano lessons, a giant mural, the bagpipes, glassblowing (that one was mine), and sleep.

One person wrote "teach my cat to talk with buttons," which is a goal worth respecting.

Notice what's missing? More email.

That's the idea behind Creative Clubhouse (do you like the name? I'm open to input!), a new community I'm putting together where I'll bring you behind the scenes of how I think, create, and build.

You'll get the tools, but also the thinking behind them: how I spot possibilities, decide what's useful, and turn an idea into something people can actually watch, use, or enjoy.

AI will be part of it. So will storytelling, video, creative experiments, and the systems I use in my business. The tools will keep changing. We'll keep making things.

Inside, you'll get:

  • One guided project each month, with practical steps to help you build something new. First up: using AI to edit video.
  • Weekly live group office hours after Creator News Live, where you can bring questions and get help moving forward.
  • A growing library of the systems and workflows I actually use, drawn from real projects and client work.

I'm not a coder, by the way. I built the survey for that Creator Camp talk with Claude in one afternoon. A few years ago, I wouldn't have known where to start.

That's what excites me: more possibilities, fewer things standing between you and the idea you've been sitting on.

And when we save some time, you have my full permission to spend it on glassblowing instead of another spreadsheet.

Membership will be $29 a month.

Before I open the doors, I'm looking for at least 12 people who want to help get this first group going. Enough people to ask questions, share what they're making, and give us something fun to build together.

Interested? Click below to raise your hand.

Count me in for Creative Clubhouse

No payment today and no commitment. You're letting me know you're interested in joining at $29/month. Once we have our first 12, I'll send the invitation and signup details.

I'd love to see what we can make together.

P.S. What would you do with an extra day a week? Hit reply and tell me. If it involves teaching your cat to talk, I'll need progress updates.

Howdy Reader! How many apps do you pay for every month that you could build yourself this weekend? Joe Casabona has been finding out. He just built his own testimonial tool, a teleprompter app, and a Stream Deck plugin with AI. But he also has a short list of tools he will never replace, and a four-question test for deciding which side of that list a tool belongs on. Today we're sitting down with Joe, host of the Streamlined Solopreneur podcast, who helps creators and small business owners...

Howdy Reader! I have a staff now, and all of them are made of felt. I admitted this out loud during Q&A at Ecamm Creator Camp, in front of a room full of grown professionals. Somebody asked whether I use AI agents. Before my brain could stop my mouth, I was explaining that Kermit is my chief of staff. He is. I talk to Kermit, and Kermit hands out the work. Miss Piggy runs marketing, and she'd like everyone to know she's the star. Scooter runs my live shows, right down to "five minutes, Mr....

Howdy Reader! If you hosted a meetup and ten people came, would you call it a win? Most of us wouldn't. DJ Strick would. "10 people in the room is a big deal," he says. Strick spent 13 years on the radio in Birmingham. Now he's building that city's podcast scene, one small room at a time. He started the Birmingham Podcasters Collective, put on a Podcast Summit at Innovation Depot, and hosts a weekly show about the people moving Birmingham forward. Today we're sitting down with Strick, who...
