What Makes Stories Stick? Let’s Talk Strategies That Work

Howdy Reader!

If you’re anything like me, you're slowly walking up from the football and tryptophan hangover from overindulging in yesterday’s Thanksgiving festivities.

If you’re reading this from somewhere other than the U.S. I hope you had a productive Thursday with many, fewer calories.

And now, the Christmas season is upon us!

Fun fact, “Jingle Bells” wasn’t always a Christmas favorite. Initially composed in 1857 as “One Horse Open Sleigh,” James Pierpont wrote it as a Thanksgiving Day song. The tune became such a Christmas sensation that by 1859, it was renamed “Jingle Bells.”

Even back then, people had no control over what goes viral! You may never crack the code of what goes viral, but you CAN learn how to tell your brand’s story.

That’s what my good friend Peg Fitzpatrick and I talked about in this week's show.

I recently was fortunate to have Peg on the show to discuss her new book, The Art of Small Business Social Media: A Blueprint for Marketing Success. (affiliate link)

Well, then she flipped the tables on me and had me on her IG show talking about storytelling strategies.

We discussed:

  • How to craft relatable, emotional stories
  • The magic of visual storytelling for your brand
  • Actionable tips for engaging content creation
  • Lessons from Disney, Pixar, and more!

This was a fun and insightful episode you definitely need to check out.

So tune in TODAY at 10 am central!

See ya there!

Howdy Reader! This week on Creator News Live, I sat down with Mike Schmitz, the founder of Practical PKM and the creator of Life HQ, and honestly, I could have talked to him for hours. The big idea stuck with me: AI is not an on-off switch; it is a dial. You do not have to be an AI bro or a proud holdout. There is a middle setting where the machine does the busywork and your taste stays in charge. Your cheat sheet breaks the whole thing down, including his Creativity Flywheel: Capture,...

Howdy Reader! I keep having the same conversation lately. Someone makes something with AI, it turns out fine, and then they feel a little weird about it, like maybe it is not really theirs. Our guest this week has the clearest answer to that I have heard. This Friday, we're sitting down with Mike Schmitz, the founder of Practical PKM, co-host of the Focused and Bookworm podcasts, and the creator of LifeHQ, a done-for-you Obsidian vault. Mike is writing some of the sharpest essays anywhere on...

Howdy Reader! I sat down last week and added up how much of my time goes to work I never wanted to be doing, the inbox, the scheduling, the follow-up, the repurposing. It was a lot. Our guest this week has spent her whole career making that stack disappear. This Friday, we're sitting down with Jennifer Bennett, the founder of Get Desky and a Fractional Chief AI Officer who has run the systems behind 1.2 million leads a month. Now she helps founders hand the backend busywork to AI and AI...
