Howdy Reader! Ever wonder about that nickname I always use for my co-host Conor Brown? You know, when I call him "Unsinkable"? There's actually a pretty cool historical connection there, and it ties back to one of the most famous maritime disasters of all time! If you're a fan of the blockbuster movie Titanic, you might remember Kathy Bates playing a bold, no-nonsense character named Margaret Brown. Margaret Brown earned the nickname "Unsinkable Molly Brown" because of her remarkable actions during and after the sinking of the RMS Titanic in 1912. During the disaster, she helped passengers board lifeboats and was eventually persuaded to enter lifeboat No. 6 herself. Once in the lifeboat, she urged the crew to return to the wreck site to look for more survivors, even threatening to throw the quartermaster overboard if he refused! What's even more amazing about Mrs. Brown is that after being rescued by the RMS Carpathia, she organized a committee among first-class survivors to secure aid for those less fortunate, raising significant funds before the ship even reached New York! So when people ask me on the Friday Live show, "Why do you call Conor Brown 'Unsinkable'?" - now you know! Partly because I'm a history nerd, partly because it just makes sense with his last name, AND because he's a travel agent who goes on cruise ships all the time. The nickname just sort of stuck! Don't ever tell Conor this (I'll never hear the end of it), but he's not only an amazing co-host, he wears many hats. He's a fantastic marketer but also an incredible travel agent. I've leaned on him for travel advice countless times. So if you need some help with your travel plans, make sure to hit him up over at Vacation Kingdoms, especially if you're curious about going to the new Universal Epic Universe theme park. It's the newest theme park in 25 years! See ya around the interwebs, -Jeff P.S. We tease Conor that the name of his new IG channel is "Drunk Disney" but it's really @themeparkhappyhour. I'd really appreciate if you'd give him a follow over there. Tell him Jeff sent you. Hopefully he's sober enough to reply! 😂 |

Howdy Reader! Let's be honest. Writing a weekly email newsletter never killed anybody, but why take the chance? 🤣 That’s just one of the excuses my brain was giving me just a few years ago. You know it's important to communicate via email to your audience (everyone keeps saying so), but where do you even begin? Do you need fancy graphics? A 20-page PDF download? Should you email daily or weekly? And the biggest question of all: will anyone actually READ what you send? I've been there, staring...
Howdy Reader! I've been noodling on a quote I heard from a productivity guru I follow recently. He said… "You're not burnt out, you're bored." For some reason, this has been bouncing around in my head for the past week or so. It's like when you get a song stuck in your brain and can't get rid of it. (It's a world of laughter, A world of tears… See what I did there? 😂) I think as creators, we all throw around the phrase "I'm burnt out" like AI throws out em-dashes. But what if that saying is...
Howdy Reader! Have you ever felt like you're shouting into the abyss on social media? One day, your posts are getting tons of engagement, and the next... crickets. All because some algorithm decided to change overnight. It's exhausting, right? That's why I'm stoked about this week's show. We're exploring something that's algorithm-proof: genuine human connection and community building. Today, I'm sitting down with Jason Goff, Senior Community & Support Specialist at Social Media Examiner, to...
