Howdy Reader! Selling stinks. When I worked for other people, I had no problem selling our services. I love recommending great products and services from brands and influencers that I know, like, and trust. So why is it so hard to actually sell our OWN products and services? Listen, I’ve heard all the sales tropes like, “you sell the sizzle, not the steak.” Or, “go after the low-hanging fruit.” And even “this is a win-win situation for both of us!” Now, if I had a tree with low-hanging sizzling steaks, THAT would be a win-win. I’d never leave the yard! Seriously though, selling is hard and not something that comes naturally to a lot of people. That’s why I’m really excited to shine the spotlight on selling on today’s show. I was blown away when I saw Conor Brown speak on the art of selling at Momentum this past year. (Don’t tell him that; I’d never hear the end of it.) He helped everyone who listened become more confident in selling their products and services, and I know he can help you, too. So join us today at 10 am central and ask your questions on selling that you’ve always been afraid to ask. See ya there, -Jeff Are you looking for powerful features without sticker shock? Howdy Reader! What a week. If you’re in half of the U.S. right now, you’ve probably been hunkered down with the winter storm. Here in East Texas, we didn’t lose power (a miracle, because around here a strong sneeze can knock it out). The internet flickered, then came back, so we curled up with some good books. It was WONDERFUL! Have you ever thought about writing your OWN book? Maybe you thought, “I should write a book,” then immediately talked yourself out of it. Do books still matter when...
Howdy Reader! A night (actually morning) in the museum, anyone? I’m sitting down with my good friend Amy Kehs, a PR expert who’s spent decades helping museums (little ole museums like the Smithsonian! I know, right?) stop getting ignored and start building real community around what they do. And no, this isn’t a “museum-only” conversation. We’ll be digging into: Why getting attention feels harder than ever (and what to do about it) Where marketing hits a wall, and how PR plays a different...
Howdy Reader! Quick heads-up: there’s no live show today, I’m in beautiful Orlando for Podfest. But next week? We’ve got a great one planned… I don’t come to Podfest just to sit in sessions (though there’s plenty of excellent content there). It’s also my yearly creativity boost: catching up with friends, swapping ideas in hallways, and refilling the tank. Last year, Paul Gowder and I did a show on the ROI of live events. Here are a few takeaways and why I’m bullish on conferences in 2026:...
