Is writing a book still worth it?

Howdy Reader!

What a week. If you’re in half of the U.S. right now, you’ve probably been hunkered down with the winter storm.

Here in East Texas, we didn’t lose power (a miracle, because around here a strong sneeze can knock it out). The internet flickered, then came back, so we curled up with some good books.

It was WONDERFUL!

Have you ever thought about writing your OWN book?

Maybe you thought, “I should write a book,” then immediately talked yourself out of it.

Do books still matter when content is everywhere?

Does AI make writing easier… or way more confusing?

That’s exactly what we’re unpacking on Creator News Live this Friday.

Conor and I are joined by Lauren Vassallo, content and community manager at Lulu and co-host of the Publish & Prosper podcast. Lauren talks daily with creators and authors about what publishing actually looks like right now, not the fantasy version.

We’re diving into things like:

  • Why a book is still a powerful credibility tool for creators
  • Where AI truly helps in the writing process
  • Where AI can quietly cause problems (and how to avoid them)
  • How to think about books as part of your bigger creator ecosystem

Join in LIVE and ask your book publishing questions!

See ya there,

-Jeff

Howdy Reader! A night (actually morning) in the museum, anyone? I’m sitting down with my good friend Amy Kehs, a PR expert who’s spent decades helping museums (little ole museums like the Smithsonian! I know, right?) stop getting ignored and start building real community around what they do. And no, this isn’t a “museum-only” conversation. We’ll be digging into: Why getting attention feels harder than ever (and what to do about it) Where marketing hits a wall, and how PR plays a different...

Howdy Reader! Quick heads-up: there’s no live show today, I’m in beautiful Orlando for Podfest. But next week? We’ve got a great one planned… I don’t come to Podfest just to sit in sessions (though there’s plenty of excellent content there). It’s also my yearly creativity boost: catching up with friends, swapping ideas in hallways, and refilling the tank. Last year, Paul Gowder and I did a show on the ROI of live events. Here are a few takeaways and why I’m bullish on conferences in 2026:...

Howdy Reader! AI is everywhere right now. And strangely enough, instead of making content better, a lot of it feels more polished, more automated, and honestly… more forgettable. That’s why this week on Creator News Live, I’m having a conversation I think a lot of creators need right now. I’m joined by Paul Gowder, who’s been building online communities for over 25 years, long before algorithms, feeds, and automation were part of the plan. We’re talking about: Why audiences are craving more...
