On-camera confidence, without the cringe

Howdy Reader!

There's a saying that you hear around East Texas.

"That guy's all hat and no cattle!"

For those of you who haven't grown up around livestock, it basically means that someone may talk big or dress the part, but actually lacks the experience or results to back it up.

That definitely is NOT the case with my friend Katie Fawkes.

You know I’m a big fan of Ecamm. They’ve sponsored my show from day one, I’ve spoken at their events, and I count the team as friends. Katie’s been in my corner from the start, which is why I’m pumped about a free training she’s leading at Ecamm’s LEAP Into Video.

Ecamm's Leap events are always good, but I think you'll really dig this one.

This one is all about how to build confidence, presence, and ease on camera.

I've said it quite a bit on my show before, but I think with the rise of all the AI slop, being able to connect with people on camera is going to be a must-have skill.

Myself (and many of my online creator friends) have noticed that we're not watching as many short-form reels and shorts as we used to because it’s getting harder to tell if they're AI-generated.

In fact, it seems many people (including my daughter) default to "that must be AI".

So how can we combat that as creators?

Engaging, human video.

So here's what you'll learn in this free training.

  • Build A Calm, Natural Presence on Camera
  • Speak Clearly Without Overthinking
  • Use Conversation as Your Confidence Engine
  • Turn Practice Into a Repeatable Habit
  • Build Confidence Through Repetition (Not Perfection)
  • Translate Confidence Into Real-World Video Use\

Not only will Katie be sharing her own expertise, but she's also got some great presenters for you to learn from.

Scott Brandon Hoffman

Late-night, standup, and interview presence expert who teaches confidence through repetition, awareness, and real connection.

Aman Chopra (Ultraspeaking)

Public speaking coach and comedian bringing grounded exercises that help you speak more clearly, feel more comfortable, and show up with intention.

What a lineup!

This all happens on February 12-13.

Go to leap.ecamm.com to register for this free online event and save your seat!

See ya around the interwebs,

-Jeff

P.S. These techniques work best when your tech isn’t in the way. I recommend Ecamm to creators who want fewer headaches and better results. Use code JEFF15 for 15% off your first payment.

Howdy Reader! Tomorrow’s episode of Creator News Live is a conversation I wish I’d heard much earlier in my creator journey. True confession: My high school guidance counselor said I had a learning disability in math, so I should probably be a mechanic or funeral director and stay away from computers. (Worst advice ever! Look at me now, Mr. Gordon!)So, needless to say, math was never my strong suit, and it has caused me a lot of anxiety during my creator and entrepreneurial journey.I have a...

Howdy Reader! What a week. If you’re in half of the U.S. right now, you’ve probably been hunkered down with the winter storm. Here in East Texas, we didn’t lose power (a miracle, because around here a strong sneeze can knock it out). The internet flickered, then came back, so we curled up with some good books. It was WONDERFUL! Have you ever thought about writing your OWN book? Maybe you thought, “I should write a book,” then immediately talked yourself out of it. Do books still matter when...

Howdy Reader! A night (actually morning) in the museum, anyone? I’m sitting down with my good friend Amy Kehs, a PR expert who’s spent decades helping museums (little ole museums like the Smithsonian! I know, right?) stop getting ignored and start building real community around what they do. And no, this isn’t a “museum-only” conversation. We’ll be digging into: Why getting attention feels harder than ever (and what to do about it) Where marketing hits a wall, and how PR plays a different...
