Howdy Reader! Mike Allton is one of my BBFs (which stands for Before Beard Friend). I've known him since the Google Plus days, which, in internet years, was right after AOL stopped sending you floppy discs. So when he asked me to join his new podcast, The AI Social Playbook, I said yes before he finished the sentence. He had me walk through the animated open for The Makers Table, my Friday craft show with Katie Fawkes. Claymation-style, twelve scenes, two characters who still look like the same two people by scene twelve. If you've ever tried that last part, you know it's not as easy as it sounds! Three things you can steal this week: Write your song first. Everybody wants to start with the shots. Write your theme in Suno, pull the SRT in Descript, hand that timing to Claude, and your storyboard shows up already cut to the music. Do it backwards and you'll spend your whole Saturday stretching a song over a sequence that flatly refuses to land on the beat. Ask me how I know! Attach your character sheet to every single prompt. New chat each time, too. Your AI will not remember what your character looked like six messages ago (it has the attention span of a golden retriever in a tennis ball factory). Katie's sweater looks the same in every shot because of this technique. Argue with it. Allie K. Miller says to push back and ask your AI why it can't do the thing. Claude handed me a browser tool with sliders that did nothing, so I said, "that's not working, Claude." (Turns out, arguing with a robot is very therapeutic) Round two? A custom After Effects rig driven by my caption file! Want to watch it instead of read about it? You get my whole screen for most of the episode... the Suno library, the ChatGPT character sheets, Claude's twelve-shot storyboard, the Magnific dashboard mid-render.
